A well-established and growing organization is seeking a Benefits Manager to join its Human Resources team in Los Angeles. This role will lead the strategic design, execution, and ongoing optimization of all employee benefit programs across the organization.
This is a high-impact position responsible for ensuring competitive, compliant, and cost-effective benefits offerings that support employee well-being and align with broader business objectives. Experience managing self-funded and/or self-insured benefit plans is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a multi-year benefits strategy aligned with organizational goals and budget
- Lead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of all employee benefit programs, including self-funded and/or self-insured plans
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable federal and state regulations
- Manage vendor relationships including RFP processes, contract negotiations, and performance oversight
- Oversee benefits budgeting, forecasting, and executive-level reporting and analytics
- Create and deliver employee communications, plan summaries, and benefits education initiatives
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, HRIS, Legal, and external advisors to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, recommending updates to programs and policies as needed
- Drive operational excellence through automation, process standardization, and enhanced employee experience
- Support additional HR initiatives and projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Hands-on experience managing self-funded and/or self-insured health and welfare plans is required
- Deep expertise in benefits strategy, plan design, funding approaches, and cost containment
- Strong knowledge of employment, benefits, leave, and disability regulations
- Advanced analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience with HRIS and financial systems (UKG and Great Plains preferred)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives
- Proven leadership, project management, and change management experience
