North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) is one of Australia's leading primary health networks - a system integrator, reform partner and commissioner of health services for one of the country's most diverse and rapidly growing regions.

With a clear strategic mandate to transform primary health care and a board that takes its governance seriously, NWMPHN is seeking up to three new directors to join its board from July 2026.

The opportunity

This is a skills-based board role with a genuine focus on good governance and strategic intent. NWMPHN operates across a complex environment - Commonwealth and Victorian funding frameworks, a large, commissioned services portfolio, clinical governance responsibilities, genuine community engagement, and an ambitious agenda for health system reform. The PHN is seeking Directors who can contribute to something that matters.

What we're looking for

We welcome applications from experienced directors across a range of disciplines. Priority areas for this cohort include legal and regulatory, finance and audit, digital health and cyber security, board leadership experience, and public health system knowledge, though we are building a complementary cohort of Directors, not simply ticking boxes.

All candidates should bring strong governance knowledge and instincts, strategic capability, and genuine alignment with NWMPHN's values and behaviours: equity, collaboration, respect and innovation.

The commitment

The Board meets approximately six times per year, excluding planning sessions. Meetings are typically held face to face, with video attendance available in exceptional circumstances. Directors are also expected to attend organisational activities and stakeholder events, and to engage with Board and executive management between meetings as required.
