Job Summary:
We are seeking a Plant Buyer to manage and optimize supplier performance, sourcing activities, and procurement processes within assigned commodity categories. This role is responsible for ensuring the achievement of key purchasing objectives related to cost, quality, delivery performance, and inventory management while supporting business operations in a dynamic industrial environment.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select the best suppliers, analyze trends, follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.
Key responsibilities:
- Define and guarantee commodity performance Guarantee: delivery, PPI, OTD,PPM/NCR;
- Build, follow-up and monitor the local sourcing action plans;
- Participate in the elaboration of the purchasing budgets;
- Optimize working capital needs, decrease and manage the level of inventory, decrease the administrative cost (no of PO’s and invoices);
- Ensure Greenbrier Europe Management System compliancy;
- Benchmark with other sites within Greenbrier organization;
- Manage the supplier base for its commodity.
Your Profile:
- University degree required; degree in a technical field is preferred;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial role (Purchasing and/or Sales); purchasing experience is preferred;
- Strong purchasing and procurement knowledge;
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships;
- Experience working with ERP systems;
- Fluent English, both written and spoken;
- Experience working in cross-functional teams;
- Good technical understanding and ability to work with technical specifications;
- Experience in a global industrial/manufacturing environment is an advantage;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
