Position overview

We are searching for dedicated and passionate Engineering students to join our Randstad Digital Romania team for a Summer Practice program. This program gives you the opportunity to work closely with our embedded engineers to bridge the gap between traditional embedded automotive systems (ECUs, CAN communication) and cutting-edge AI technologies.

This practice program requires a part-time weekly commitment (6 hours/day) and a full onsite work model at our Sibiu office.

What you will be doing:

• Embedded & AI Fundamentals:
• Understand how modern embedded architectures intersect with AI.
• Learn Python fundamentals, Linux scripting, and Git workflow strategies, while discovering AI concepts like RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), Knowledge Bases, and LLMs (Ollama/Llama) to build a local AI agent sandbox.
• Automotive CAN Communication & AI Prompt Engineering:
• Deep into automotive systems, exploring how ECUs communicate over CAN buses and understanding UDS services.
• Master advanced Prompt Engineering and leverage modern developer tools like Claude Code to configure project rules (CLAUDE.md) and automate development flows.
• Implementation & Testing Sprint:
• Work in a team to simulate a real production sprint.
• Write automated Python test scripts using pytest (TDD approach), execute prompt evaluation pipelines, create virtual networks (vcan0), and deliver a final functional project demo comparing results from different LLM models.

Requirements:

• Student in Engineering, or a related technical field;
• Basic understanding of programming concepts (ideally Python or C);
• Basic notions of Linux (command line, shell scripting basics);
• General understanding of automotive/embedded concepts (what an ECU is, CAN messages, or a communication protocol);
• High interest in AI tools;
• Driven and motivated attitude with a strong desire to learn and evolve;
• Solution-driven mindset;
• Ability to work in teams;
• Detail-oriented, flexible;
• Good written and oral communication skills;
• Good level of English both spoken and written.
