The Role

We are looking for a Finance Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities for our Hungarian entity. In this role, your focus will be to apply your technical expertise to deliver high-quality financial operations while taking the initiative to work on clearly defined projects and make independent decisions on how to best execute your tasks.

This role sits within the Controllership team and reports to the Senior Finance Manager in Hungary. You will be part of a hard-working, supportive, and collaborative finance team, working closely with various departments across the organization to gain exposure to multiple aspects of financial accounting.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Core Accounting & Financial Operations

• Manage supplier and customer invoice processing, ensuring high data accuracy and integrity of master data
• Take ownership of the reconciliation of supplier invoices reported to Hungarian tax authority (NAV) database to ensure full compliance.
• Handle employee expenses in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support and maintain procurement processes, ensuring signed contracts are in place and the supplier database is accurate and up to date.
• Record and reconcile bank transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Own fixed asset accounting, including accurate capitalization, depreciation, and asset lifecycle tracking.
• Support external audits by ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and delivered on time.
• Work closely with and provide ongoing support to the Senior Finance Manager and the wider UK finance team.

Month-End Closing

• Play a key role in the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries independently.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data in ERP systems.
• Prepare Balance Sheet (BS) reconciliations to maintain the integrity of our financial reporting.

Stakeholder Management & Commercial Awareness

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide financial support.
• Interpret and communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Collaborate with senior finance team to support reporting, audits, and business initiatives.
• Understand what drives our growth and how your individual performance contributes to the company’s success.

Projects, Systems & Process Improvement

• Independently support project implementations by taking ownership of specific workstreams.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, specifically looking for ways to use automation or AI tools to increase efficiency.
• Support the transition of selected outsourced activities in-house to improve internal control.
• Gather project requirements by understanding stakeholder needs to support the wider Finance strategy.

Who You Are:

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Hungarian GAAP.
• Tax Knowledge: Good knowledge of local tax regulations, including VAT, CIT, INNOV, and Local business tax.
• Data & Systems: Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is a significant plus.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues, solve finance requests, and document processes effectively.
• Communication: Strong English language skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to a variety of audiences.
• Industry: Experience in financial services is considered an advantage.
