We are looking for a skilled Project Assistant to join a non-profit organization in Washington, DC, on a contract basis. This role involves providing translation support for Amharic documents and contributing to the smooth execution of project objectives. Responsibilities:
• Translate written materials from Amharic to English and vice versa with accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
• Review and edit translations to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with project goals.
• Manage and organize project-related documents to maintain accessibility and order.
• Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and achieve project milestones.
• Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings and preparing reports.
• Assist in the coordination of project activities and communication between stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards and guidelines in all project documentation.
• Identify and address any discrepancies or gaps in translated materials.
• Participate in team discussions to offer insights and solutions related to translation and project processes.
• Proficiency in both Amharic and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in document translation, ideally within a detail-oriented or non-profit setting.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with cultural nuances in both Amharic and English languages.
• Proficiency in common office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Prior experience in a project assistant or administrative support role is preferred.
• Availability to work on a contract basis with flexibility to meet project deadlines.
