As our Tax Specialist, you will move beyond the "back office" to become a vital advisor. You will step into a role created specifically to take high-level technical work and direct client management off the owner’s plate, allowing you to have a massive, visible impact on the firm's growth and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Tax Preparation: Accurately and efficiently prepare and review both individual and business tax returns.
• Client Management: Lead direct communication with clients to gather essential documents, clarify open items, and answer complex tax questions.
• Advisory Support: Work alongside the firm owner to support tax planning engagements and provide proactive advice to business-owner clients.
• Data & Systems: Utilize Lacerte and QuickBooks Online to manage client data and move returns through to completion.
• Problem Solving: Independently navigate low-level technical hurdles and solve problems without requiring excessive hand-holding.

Must-Have Requirements

• Tax Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in U.S. tax preparation, specifically with individual (1040) and business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065).
• Software Proficiency: Expert-level experience with Lacerte Tax Software and QuickBooks Online.
• Communication: Strong written English and professional verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead video calls with business owners.
• Independence: A self-starter mindset with the ability to solve problems independently and the judgment to know when to escalate a complex issue.
• Attention to Detail: High accuracy and the ability to manage multiple active client files simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

• Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in Spanish (verbal and written) to assist our significant Latino client base.
• Boutique Firm Experience: Prior experience in a small or boutique firm where client interaction and independent judgment are daily requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Comfort working with distributed remote teams, including coordinating with bookkeepers and virtual assistants.
