Key Responsibilities

• Lead and interpret site investigations to identify geological factors affecting tunnel construction.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret geological and geotechnical data, including rock type, strength, stability, groundwater, faults, and discontinuities.
• Perform field investigations and deliver high-quality geological descriptions impacting excavation methods and support requirements.
• Predict tunnel behavior and support selection of excavation and support strategies.
• Develop detailed method statements, assess risks from challenging ground conditions, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Ensure proper design, installation, and operation of temporary and permanent ground support systems.
• Conduct tunnel face mapping, including accessing the TBM cutterhead chamber when permitted.
• Oversee soil and rock tests, rock mass classification, dynamic probing, surface grouting, and maintain accurate reports.
• Monitor geological conditions during excavation and prepare daily tunnel progress reports with geological observations and predictions

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in TBM-driven tunnels or mechanized tunneling projects.
• Strong knowledge of geological and geotechnical investigation methods, rock classification systems, and underground excavation processes.
• Ability to interpret geological data for TBM excavation and tunnel support decisions.
• Familiarity with site investigation testing, RQD, and ground improvement techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, adaptable to dynamic underground conditions.
