About Our Client

Our client is one of the UK's leading Independent Connection Providers (ICP), delivering utility infrastructure solutions across electricity, water, wastewater, fibre, heat and gas. They design, deliver, connect and adopt utility networks for residential, commercial and major infrastructure developments throughout the UK.

Purpose of Role

The Assistant Design Engineer will support the delivery of utility infrastructure projects by assisting with engineering designs, technical documentation, feasibility assessments, and utility connection activities.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of utility network designs and engineering layouts.

• Produce and update technical drawings using AutoCAD and other engineering software.

• Support electrical calculations and connection design activities.

• Assist with cable sizing, routing exercises and design development activities.

• Review site plans, GIS information and mapping data.

• Support quality checking of drawings and documentation.

• Support feasibility studies.

• Assist with tendering activities and costing support.

• Assemble design packs and supporting documentation.

• Log and track technical queries.

• Support DNO and network operator application submissions.

• Assist with coordination across electricity, water, gas and fibre utilities.

• Support adherence to Health & Safety and CDM requirements.

Skills, Qualifications & Abilities

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• Master's Degree advantageous.

• Interest in utility infrastructure, power systems or electrical design.

• Knowledge of UK utility connections and DNO processes advantageous.

• AutoCAD and engineering drawing production.

• Basic electrical calculations.

• Electrical engineering fundamentals.

• GIS and mapping tools exposure.

• Microsoft Office proficiency.

• Awareness of LV/HV networks.

• Strong communication skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Strong organisational skills.
