As an Automation Engineer you will be engaged in reducing the manual work load for all the layers of the network for one of the biggest telecommunications operators in Germany. To ensure the success of the our Network Operations Center team, the Automation Engineer position plays a central role in successfully delivering complex solutions towards our customer. This is being achieved by addressing business and technical requirements, understanding all stakeholders’ requirements and reducing the manual work to the highest possible degree.

Job Description

• Engage with operations team, identify their development gaps, and enable the Continuous Integration and automation of the manual tasks.
• Create and maintain fully automated build processes for multiple technology products.
• Work to continuously improve speed, efficiency and scalability of our systems.
• Deployment and operations of infrastructure components for Network Function Virtualization in Data Centers.
• Provide and manage the lifecycle of physical infrastructure, applications and virtualized resources, hosted within the datacenters.
• Live debugging/troubleshooting on production/stagging Data Centers;
• Live debugging/troubleshooting on Red Hat Linux/CentOS, Kubernetes and Docker container.

Technical Knowledge:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field or for or more years of work experience as an Automation Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Sr System Engineer or related position;
• Solid understanding and experience with DevOps principles and practices;
• Good experience in Continuous integration and monitoring tools such as Jenkins, Grafana, Prometheus etc;
• Development and scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell, SQL;
• Demonstrated experience with Ansible;
• Experience with API integrations;
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
• Strong Operating Systems knowledge;

Good to have:

• Containers and Container Orchestrators knowledge: Kubernetes, Docker;
• Business Intelligence tools: Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Oracle BI;
• Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills in Linux/Unix, Windows;
• Strong knowledge in virtualization systems (VMWARE, OpenStack etc.);
• Infrastructure and cloud certificates represent an advantage;
• German Language represents an advantage.

What you will be doing:

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve automation solutions to support the needs of the entire network operations teams.
• Build automated processes that eliminate manual steps in all troubleshooting aspects of our 4G & 5G network.
• Work closely with other teams to identify requirements and build tools and automations to enhance network-related functions and restoration time.
• Participate in network projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of existing processes and automation.
• Build workflows for configuration, verification, health checking and monitoring of various network components.
• Troubleshooting of known faults/Identified scenarios.
• Co-ordinate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Raise Problem Tickets as a part of problem management.
• Participate and review test cases for NW elements, acceptance test executions.
