Key Responsibilities

• Test Planning and Design: Analyse business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documents to design comprehensive test cases and automation scripts tailored to core banking modules such as account management, payments, loans, and compliance.
• Automation Framework Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, UFT, TestNG, JUnit) to support regression, performance, and integration testing.
• Test Execution: Execute automated test suites across core banking platforms, ensuring high test coverage and early detection of defects.
• Defect Reporting and Tracking: Log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA or Bugzilla, collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure timely resolution.
• Continuous Integration: Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo, enabling frequent code deployments and faster feedback cycles.
• Compliance and Security Testing: Validate that core banking applications adhere to regulatory requirements (such as RBI guidelines) and security best practices, including data protection and access controls.
• Documentation: Prepare clear and detailed test documentation, including test scripts, execution reports, and user guides for audit and knowledge-sharing purposes.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency: Strong command over automation tools (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, QTP/UFT), scripting languages (Java, Python, VBScript), and databases (SQL, Oracle).
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of core banking processes, products, and regulatory landscape in India (e.g., NEFT/RTGS, KYC, CBS integration).
• Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret requirements, identify test scenarios, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with cross-functional stakeholders, including developers, business users, and compliance teams.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to scripting, execution, and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Best Practices in Core Banking Automation Testing

• Early Involvement: Engage in the software development lifecycle from the requirements-gathering phase to ensure testability and early identification of risks.
• Reusable Scripts: Develop modular and reusable test scripts to optimise maintenance and facilitate rapid adaptation to changing requirements.
• Data-Driven Testing: Employ data-driven frameworks to validate multiple scenarios and edge cases, especially for transaction-heavy banking modules.
• Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and enhance automation frameworks to incorporate new tools, techniques, and regulatory updates.
• Security Focus: Prioritise security testing, including penetration and vulnerability assessments, given the sensitive nature of banking data.
