Descriere:

Booking Holdings Romania is a Center of Excellence based in Bucharest, Romania and was created to support the increasing business demands of the Booking Holdings Brands. The Center of Excellence provides access to specialized and highly skilled talent, leading industry best practices, and collaboration opportunities across all of our Brands.

As part of our Booking Holdings Romania team, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the world's leading provider of online travel, with a mission of making it easier for everyone to experience the world through five-primary consumer facing brands: Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, KAYAK and OpenTable.

The Data Analyst II is a hybrid role that combines the stakeholder-facing strengths of a Business Analyst with the hands-on data and BI strengths of a Data Analyst II. The role serves as the connective tissue between business stakeholders across the supported areas (such as Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Procurement, Market Intelligence and others) and the cross-brand data, reporting and analytics team -- turning ambiguous business questions into clear requirements, validated data and actionable insights.

At this level, the Data Analyst II operates independently on work of moderate complexity: discovering and writing requirements, exploring data on Snowflake, building or evolving reports in the team's BI / Dashboard tools, and running data QA before deliverables reach stakeholders. The role is supported by the Senior Business Analyst, Product Manager and Reporting Analyst on prioritization, deep dashboard work and complex stakeholder situations. Success means deliverables that are well-scoped, well-validated and well-adopted by the business.

This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Requirements Discovery & Definition: Engages with business stakeholders across the supported areas to understand goals, processes, pain points and data needs. Translates these into structured artefacts -- user stories, acceptance criteria, metric definitions, data dictionaries -- that engineers and reporting analysts can deliver against without ambiguity.

  • Process & Data Flow Mapping: Maps current-state business and data processes (source -> transformation -> consumption), identifies inefficiencies, gaps, duplications and risks, and defines target-state processes together with stakeholders. Produces clear process artefacts (flow diagrams, RACI, lineage views, decision logs).

  • Data Exploration & Analysis: Investigates business questions using SQL on Snowflake and the team's BI tooling. Produces clear, actionable analyses and recommendations that complement the requirements work.

  • Insight Generation & Proactive Analytics: Looks beyond direct stakeholder requests -- surfaces patterns, anomalies, opportunities and risks in the data, and frames findings into narratives that drive decisions.

  • Data QA & Validation: Defines and executes data quality and validation activities -- reconciliation against source-of-truth systems, sample-based spot checks, edge-case testing, UAT and pre-release sign-off -- partnering closely with engineers, analytics engineers and reporting analysts.

  • Metric Definition & Documentation: Helps define and document business metrics, KPIs and supporting data sources; ensures consistency across reports, analyses and business areas. Maintains clear documentation of requirements, business logic, processes and data sources.

  • Stakeholder Support: Acts as a hands-on partner for operational stakeholders -- clarifying definitions, helping them self-serve where possible, and producing tailored analyses where not. Escalates ambiguity, scope risks and dependencies early.

  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Works daily with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Reporting Analysts, the Product Manager and the Senior Business Analyst. Contributes to reports and dashboards as a background activity where helpful; shares learnings, SQL patterns and analytical techniques with peers.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • Solid understanding of business analysis methodologies -- requirements elicitation, definition, prioritization and validation.

  • Solid understanding of data analysis techniques -- exploratory analysis, segmentation, trend analysis, simple statistical reasoning.

  • Solid understanding of BI / dashboarding concepts and semantic layers.

  • Solid understanding of data QA and validation techniques -- reconciliation, sample testing, edge-case design, UAT.

  • Working knowledge of data concepts: data sources, models, metrics, lineage, quality. Familiarity with dimensional modeling and how reporting layers are structured on Snowflake.

  • Experience with one or more relevant business domains -- such as Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Procurement, Market Intelligence -- or transferable experience from comparable domains.

  • Awareness of data privacy and security concepts (GDPR/PII).

  • Nice to have (*): Awareness of Risk & Control / SOX concepts and how they apply to data and reporting.

  • Strong SQL skills on Snowflake or a comparable cloud warehouse -- comfortable writing analytical queries, joins, aggregations and basic window functions for both exploration and reconciliation.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise BI / Dashboard tool -- MicroStrategy and/or ThoughtSpot are the primary tools used by the team; familiarity with others (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is a plus (*).

  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and to present findings to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong skills in Excel / Google Sheets for analysis and stakeholder-facing deliverables.

  • Proficient with collaboration and documentation tooling (Jira / Linear, Confluence / Notion or equivalent).

  • Comfortable navigating dashboards in BI / Dashboard tools (MicroStrategy and ThoughtSpot are the primary tools; others like Tableau, Power BI, Looker are a plus *) to validate metrics.

  • Awareness of dbt and modern data stack concepts (*).

  • Awareness of Python for data analysis (pandas) is a plus (*).

  • Comfortable with version control (Git) basics.

  • Familiarity with process modeling notation (e.g., BPMN) is a plus (*).

  • Hands-on experience using AI / LLM-based tools to accelerate analytical and discovery work -- drafting requirements, exploring data, generating SQL, summarizing stakeholder input -- is a plus (*).

  • Drives requirements work and analysis of moderate complexity end-to-end with limited oversight.

  • Ask the right questions to surface what stakeholders really need versus what they initially ask for.

  • Translates business questions into both well-structured requirements and concrete data investigations.

  • Designs and executes data QA / validation activities that catch issues before they reach stakeholders.

  • Communicates findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including visually.

  • Balances rigor with pragmatism -- knows when 'good enough' is ready to hand off.

  • Curious and rigorous -- validates assumptions and questions surprising results.

  • Strong English communication (verbal and written).
