The Chief Accountant position is a central pillar in managing, organizing, and controlling the entire financial-accounting activity of the group. We are looking for a responsible professional with strategic vision, rigorous attention to details, and excellent leadership skills to coordinate the financial team and ensure full compliance with current legislation.

Core deliverables

• Daily operations: Ensures the development of the financial-accounting activity in accordance with the specialized legislation.
• Financial reporting: Ensures the observance of the rules for drawing up the financial statements and the timely submission to the law authorities.
• Analysis and reporting: Performs economic-financial analysis and other department-specific reports towards the company’s management.
• Patrimonial control: Ensures the control of the patrimonial operations at company level, the processing procedures used, and the accuracy of the accounting data provided.
• Team coordination: Coordinates and checks monthly a team of junior and senior accountants, making overviews and reports regarding their activity.
• Legislative updates: Is permanently informed of the legislation in the financial-accounting field and transmits the necessary information to the subordinates and management.

Responsibilities

• Risk management: Continuous vigilance regarding financial, legal, and business risks.
• Data accuracy: Ensuring the precision of the accounting data provided and strict adherence to legal deadlines.
• Department efficiency: Proactivity and capability to provide suggestions/solutions to improve the financial-accounting area.
• Financial reporting & compliance: Prepare statutory financial statements (e.g., Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow); Manage taxation issues, including coordinating with tax authorities and ensuring timely filing of returns; Review reconciliations and maintain necessary audit documentation to resolve findings quickly.
• Financial planning & analysis: Assist executive management in preparing the annual corporate budget; Track actual expenses against the budget, analyze significant variances, and recommend corrective actions; Provide historical data, financial trends, and forecasts to aid in strategic planning; Calculation of the profit tax, etc.
• Team & operational management: Lead, train, and mentor the accounting team (e.g., accounts payable, payroll, and staff accountants); Manage month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure strict deadlines are met.
• Process optimization & systems: Evaluate and upgrade accounting software and workflow procedures to improve overall efficiency.

Requirements

Must have:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar financial/accounting domain.
• University Degree (Bachelor’s) in a Finance/Accounting related field.
• Solid knowledge about managing/organizing a financial-accounting department and the legislation in force.
• Good understanding of commodity pricing, agricultural subsidies, and financial risk management specific to the farming industry.
• Proficiency in using digital infrastructure (ERP systems – preferably SAP, and Business Intelligence systems).
• Fluent in English.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Communicative, team-worker, attentive to details, with a strong sense of initiative.

Nice to have:

• Experience in the same activity fields as DN AGRAR group.
• Experience as a fiscal or a tax consultant.
• Being a member of CECCAR and/or having ACA, ACCA, CFA qualifications.
• Valid driving license.
