The Role

The Chief Accountant is responsible for the integrity of the Company’s financial records and the accuracy of statutory reporting in accordance with Romanian accounting standards (OMFP 1802/2014). The role oversees the full general ledger function, leads the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensures timely and complete submission of all regulatory obligations to ANAF, including e-Factura, SAF-T (D406), and corporate income tax declarations.

The Chief Accountant serves as the primary point of contact for the external auditor and coordinates the annual statutory audit process end-to-end. The role works in close collaboration with the FP&A, Tax, and Treasury functions to ensure consistency between statutory and management accounts. The role reports directly to the Finance Director.

What We Expect

• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting, with at least 3 years in a chief accountant or senior accounting role within a production or FMCG company
• In-depth knowledge and practice of Romanian statutory accounting standards and reporting (OMFP 1802/2014) and strong command of the full accounting cycle, including fixed assets, inventory, intercompany reconciliations, and provisions
• Operational experience with SAF-T (D406) and e-Factura compliance is required; working knowledge of excise duty accounting and regulations and fiscal warehouse (antrepozit fiscal) procedures is an advantage
• Proven experience managing the external and internal audit process, including preparation of audit files, coordination with Big Four or equivalent auditors, and resolution of audit findings
• SAP proficiency is required; experience with SAP FI module in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
• CECCAR certification is required; prior experience in the brewing or beverage industry is an advantage
• Fluent English is required; group-level reporting and correspondence are conducted in English
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and developing an accounting team, setting priorities, and ensuring accountability across the function
• An appetite for process improvement and a readiness to embrace AI tools as part of the accounting workflow will be considered positively
