You can take primary On-Call shifts and work closely with your teammates.

Key Responsabilities

• Own the technical design of customer-facing and internal tooling that operates across hybrid estates, cloud platforms, virtualized environments, and the servers and services that support them.
• Lead complex platform changes and act as the technical escalation point for incidents spanning application, OS, virtualization, storage, and network layers.
• Define and govern monitoring, security, compliance, and account standards across AWS and Azure, alongside the underlying Windows and Linux systems they integrate with.
• Drive optimization, cost-reduction, and resilience initiatives across customer environments, translating findings into actionable roadmaps.
• Lead technical solution and design discussions with customers, principal engineers, and application owners.
• Mentor 2nd line engineers, raising the technical bar through code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Runbooks design, and post-incident reviews.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, prototype where useful.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as senior escalation.

Person Specification

• Deep platform engineering background across Windows and Linux (basic/ medium)at scale, with strong experience of virtualization, Active Directory, storage, and backup.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS or Azure across architecture, governance, and operations, able to design as well as operate.
• Medium networking expertise: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity patterns.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (and mature Git/GitHub workflows, including branching strategy and code review.
• Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how they fit into delivery and platform change.
• Security and compliance applied by design, not as an afterthought.
• Excellent communicator, comfortable holding technical conversations with customers and translating between business and engineering audiences.
• Self-directed, decisive, and collaborative; able to lead without needing formal authority.

Preferred Skills

• Significant experience operating and scaling production systems across mixed environments, physical, virtual, and cloud.
• Track record working under compliance frameworks such as SOC2, including patching and lifecycle management practices.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) and confident applying open-source tooling to enterprise problems.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
• Comfortable in Agile delivery environments and contributing to backlog.
