Quality Assurance Job SummaryWe are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled CMM Operator to join our Quality Assurance team. The candidate will be responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), performing dimensional inspections, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, and ensuring components meet specified dimensional and quality requirements.The role requires basic to working knowledge of CMM software, CAD software, ZEISS CALYPSO and PolyWorks, along with a good understanding of dimensional inspection and measurement practices.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate CMM equipment for dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.Perform in-process, final and first-piece inspections as per engineering drawings and inspection requirements.Understand and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances and dimensional specifications.Set up components/fixtures on the CMM and ensure proper alignment and measurement conditions.Execute existing CMM inspection programs and make basic program-level adjustments where required.Generate dimensional inspection reports and maintain inspection records.Identify dimensional deviations and report non-conformities to the concerned QA/Production team.Perform measurement and inspection using appropriate probes, fixtures and measuring equipment.Verify component dimensions against CAD models, drawings and customer specifications.Maintain proper documentation of inspection results and measurement data.Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and other quality inspection activities.Coordinate with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve dimensional and inspection-related issues.Ensure CMM equipment, probes, fixtures and work area are maintained properly.Follow established Quality Management System procedures, SOPs and work instructions.Support calibration and verification activities of CMM and related inspection equipment.Software Knowledge / Technical SkillsThe candidate should have basic to working knowledge of the following:CMM SoftwareZEISS CALYPSO – Basic knowledge of CMM operation, inspection programs and measurement/report generation.PolyWorks – Basic knowledge of dimensional inspection, measurement and reporting.General understanding of CMM software requirements and inspection programming concepts.CAD SoftwareBasic to working knowledge of CAD software.Ability to view and understand 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.Ability to interpret dimensions, tolerances, features and geometric requirements from CAD/drawings.Professional working exposure to CAD software will be an added advantage.Required Skills & CompetenciesGood understanding of CMM operation and dimensional inspection.Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.Understanding of dimensional tolerances, datum systems and measurement techniques.Knowledge of Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge and other precision measuring instruments.Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings and 3D models.Basic knowledge of inspection planning and measurement methods.Good attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to identify dimensional variations and communicate inspection findings.Good documentation and reporting skills.Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams.Knowledge of aerospace/defence component inspection will be an added advantage.Educational QualificationDiploma / ITI / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.Relevant certification or training in CMM / Metrology / GD&T will be an added advantage.Preferred Experience2–6 years of experience in CMM operation / dimensional inspection / quality inspection.Experience in precision engineering, aerospace, defence, automotive or manufacturing industries will be preferred.Hands-on experience with ZEISS CALYPSO and/or PolyWorks is preferred.Key Performance AreasAccuracy and reliability of CMM inspection results.Timely completion of inspection activities.Correct interpretation of drawings and GD&T.Proper generation and maintenance of inspection reports.Identification and reporting of dimensional non-conformities.Compliance with quality procedures and inspection standards.
