We build and manage remote operational support and development teams, while also supporting our freelance collaborators during their journey.

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to support development, operations, and analysis activities within a long-term modernization and migration program. The role combines hands-on COBOL programming with interface analysis, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform COBOL programming for ongoing development and enhancements
• Resolve issues in the existing COBOL codebase
• Coordinate with business and IT stakeholders to clarify requirements and technical dependencies
• Manage a balanced workload across development and data migration, operational activities, and analysis of current interfaces and system functionalities
• Conduct detailed reverse engineering of legacy COBOL components
• Contribute to stable operations and continuous improvement of the mainframe environment
• Maintain all project-related documentation in alignment with existing Confluence and Jira structures

Requirements

• Several years of experience in COBOL application development, design, and architecture
• Strong skills in reverse engineering existing COBOL code
• Expertise with IMS and CICS
• Solid knowledge of SQL on the IBM mainframe
• Independent, structured, and reliable working approach
• Fluent German language skills
• Experience working with Confluence and Jira
