Commercial Risk Officer

About the Role

We are looking for a Commercial Risk Officer to strengthen our business control

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this independent role is responsible for monitoring commercial risk, identifying potential issues early, and providing management with clear facts and insights to support informed decisions.

This position does not make commercial decisions — it ensures that risks are properly identified, challenged, documented, and escalated when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, Challenge, and Report Commercial Risk

• Review commercial deals before signing and identify potential risks related to pricing, payment terms, contractual conditions, and documentation.
• Challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and provide objective risk assessments to management.
• Monitor customer exposure, credit limits, overdue payments, and overall portfolio risk.
• Assess risks related to bank financing, leasing arrangements, and customer defaults, including potential financial impact.
• Monitor cash flow risks, advance payments, rental agreements, and demonstration equipment exposure.
• Track insurance coverage, deposits, asset values, and other risk mitigation measures.
• Perform customer verification, fraud prevention, and anti-money-laundering checks.
• Maintain risk reports, dashboards, and early-warning indicators.
• Escalate significant risks and concerns directly to the Managing Director.

Requirements

Education & Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Additional qualification in risk management, credit analysis, controlling, or finance is an advantage.
• Several years of experience in commercial risk, credit control, controlling, finance, or a similar analytical role.
• Experience with machinery, vehicles, equipment financing, leasing, or other high-value sales environments is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of bank financing, leasing structures, and commercial contracts.
• Ability to analyze financial statements, company accounts, and customer creditworthiness.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience working with ERP systems and business reporting tools.
• Ability to communicate risks clearly to senior management.
