Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to own and develop the end-to-end Business Intelligence and data modeling layer for the Romanian business, ensuring a single source of truth across systems, high-quality reporting, and scalable data solutions.

The role is accountable for data models, Power BI architecture, and reporting delivery, ensuring alignment with corporate data strategy, governance, and technology standards.        

Key responsibilities:

-  Own and drive the Romanian BI and Data agenda, aligned with business priorities

-  Translate business challenges into data models, BI solutions, and scalable reporting frameworks

-  Lead and manage a team responsible for data modeling, Power BI development, and analytical delivery

-  Coordinate internal and external resources across BI, data, and reporting initiatives

-  Ensure implementation of data governance, KPI standardization, and BI best practices

-  Drive adoption of modern BI tools (Power BI, Databricks) with focus on usability, scalability, and performance

Profile

-  Senior profile with strong hands-on experience in BI, data modeling, and reporting architecture

-  Proven ability to combine technical depth, team leadership, and business partnering in complex environments

Scope of Responsibilities and Key Tasks

1. Data Modeling & BI Architecture Ownership

-  Own design and maintenance of enterprise data models

-  Ensure standardized and governed data model across reporting

-  Define and enforce KPI logic and business definitions

-  Manage integration between data platforms and Power BI

-  Ensure performance, scalability, and dataset reusability

2. Reporting & Data Quality

-  Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reporting outputs

-  Ensure reporting is based on certified datasets, not ad-hoc extracts

-  Eliminate manual Excel-based reporting through automation and BI solutions

3. Data-Driven Decision Support

-  Translate business questions into data model requirements and BI solutions

-  Support business leaders with reliable insights and actionable recommendations

-  Identify opportunities for operational improvement (cost, productivity, resource utilization)

4. Data Team Management

-  Manage a team of BI developers, data analysts, and data model specialists

-  Define clear ownership between data engineering (IT) and BI/data layer (this role)

-  Ensure development standards (versioning, documentation, testing)

-  Develop team capabilities in BI, data modeling, and data storytelling

-  Foster a collaborative, accountable, and business-oriented culture

4. BI Projects and Delivery

-  Lead delivery of Business Intelligence projects and reporting solutions

-  Own the end-to-end lifecycle: business requirements into data model and then into dashboard delivery

-  Ensure dataset reusability and avoid duplication of reporting logic

-  Coordinate with IT, external vendors, and central teams

5. Governance and Corporate Alignment

-  Ensure compliance with corporate data standards, governance, and roadmap

-  Collaborate with central teams on KPI definitions, data quality, and data management principles

-  Adapt global solutions to local needs without compromising standardization

-  Act as local owner of BI governance (Power BI + data models)

Key Competencies and Experience

-  Proven experience in managing a BI / data analytics team

-  Strong ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights (data storytelling)

-  Experience working with senior business stakeholders

-  Strong collaboration across business, IT, and central data teams

-  Experience working within corporate data standards and architectures

-  Very good command of English

Power BI Expertise

-  Strong experience with data modelling in Power BI

-  Proven experience in building interactive dashboards and management reports for multiple stakeholder levels

-  Experience in Power BI governance best practices: Dataset reuse, Workspace management, Security, Performance optimization

Databricks / Lakehouse Platform Expertise

-  Hands-on experience working with Databricks-based Lakehouse architecture

-  Strong SQL skills for data extraction, validation, and transformation support

-  Ability to validate data pipelines and ensure data quality at source level

-  Experience collaborating with data engineers on data models and curated datasets

-  Familiarity with integrating Databricks outputs with Power BI
