Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to support and evolve our global Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. In this role, you will build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, ensure platform stability, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our BI and analytics environment. Reporting to the BI Platform Lead, you will work closely with analytics teams, business stakeholders, and Microsoft support to ensure that data solutions are reliable, scalable, and high-performing.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Platform Operations

• Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Fabric data pipelines, dataflows, and datasets.
• Ensure the operational health, reliability, and scalability of Fabric workloads.
• Manage capacity and resource allocation to support optimal performance and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline failures.
• Administer and optimize Fabric workspaces, permissions, and governance settings.
• Monitor platform usage, performance, and new Microsoft feature releases.

Data Quality & Performance Optimization

• Work with analytics and business teams to ensure efficient data models, clean datasets, and performant pipelines.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for data quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Tune pipelines, queries, and processing workloads to improve performance and reliability.

Support & Collaboration

• Provide operational support to internal Fabric and Power BI users.
• Manage incidents and requests via ServiceNow and ensure adherence to SLAs.
• Communicate maintenance windows, updates, and platform changes to stakeholders.
• Assist teams in onboarding new data projects and optimizing their Fabric environments.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify repetitive or manual tasks and automate them using PowerShell, Fabric APIs, or other scripting tools.
• Enhance platform monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities.
• Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and best practices related to Fabric and data engineering workflows.
• Drive enhancements to performance, security, and resilience across the BI ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.
• Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and familiarity with Fabric APIs.
• Experience with platform monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Understanding of data governance, workspace administration, and user access management.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with ServiceNow or similar ticketing tools is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar cloud data tools.
• Background in performance tuning of BI datasets and cloud capacities.
• Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices (alerting, monitoring, automation).
