About the RoleThe Data Platform DevOps Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and optimize IFRC’senterprise data platform built on Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and related Microsoft products. Thiscritical role bridges platform engineering, DevOps practices, and data infrastructure management toensure reliable, secure, and scalable data operations supporting IFRC's global humanitarian mission.The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the Microsoft Fabric and Azure ecosystem,cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering principles, while demonstratingcommitment to IFRC's humanitarian values.Responsibilities• Design, build, and maintain the Microsoft Fabric data platform infrastructure, including OneLake,Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Factory pipelines, Real-Time Intelligence, and Power BIenvironments.• Implement and manage platform architecture supporting data engineering, data science,analytics, and business intelligence workloads across the organization.• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Azure ResourceManager templates, or similar tools for consistent, repeatable deployments.• Architect multi-region, scalable solutions within Microsoft Fabric to support global humanitarianoperations.• Build and maintain comprehensive CI/CD pipelines for Microsoft Fabric workspaces using AzureDevOps, Git integration, Fabric REST APIs, Fabric deployment pipelines, and fabric-cicd tools.• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processesacross Fabric components.• Manage platform maintenance, capacity, workspace administration, monitoring, observability,upgrades, disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, performance, and cost optimization.• Implement security and governance controls using Microsoft Purview, RBAC, row-level andcolumn-level security, Microsoft Entra, service principals, managed identities, DLP, encryption,private endpoints, and secure data-sharing practices.• Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and Azure CLI.• Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, application developers,security and compliance teams to provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, and improveplatform capabilities.• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, standard operating procedures,architecture decisions, security controls, governance frameworks, and platform inventories.Requirements• Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Science, or a related field.• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering roles.• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Azure DevOps.• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric or related Microsoft data platforms such as Power BI,Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM templates, orCloudFormation.• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including Python, PowerShell, Bash, andSQL.• Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud orchestration technologies including AKS, EKS,or GKE.• Experience with cloud storage services such as Azure Storage and AWS S3, and managedrelational databases such as Azure SQL or Amazon RDS.• Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data lakes, lakehouse architectures, and ETL/ELTprocesses.• Understanding of storage ACLs, network security, encryption, identity management, and cloudsecurity best practices.• Experience deploying and managing Microsoft Fabric workspaces, capacities, and items.• Knowledge of OneLake architecture, shortcuts, mirroring, maintenance, and security.• Familiarity with Fabric REST APIs, SDKs, Git integration, deployment pipelines, and Power BIadministration.• Proficiency in designing scalable ETL/ELT architectures and data pipeline orchestrationstrategies.• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor,Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.• Background in multi-region or multi-cloud data architecture deployments.• Excellent problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.• Fluent spoken and written English.Nice to Have• Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator, Azure DataEngineer, Microsoft Fabric, or Power BI.• Experience in humanitarian, international development, or non-profit organizations.• Knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet, partitioning, clustering, and other data-platform optimizationtechniques.• Deep understanding of data lakehouse architecture, medallion patterns, and data meshframeworks.• Strong expertise in data security, encryption, identity management, privacy controls, GDPR,HIPAA, and row/column-level security.• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra, service principals, Fabric notebooks, PySpark, Python, andrelevant APIs.• Familiarity with big-data technologies such as Hadoop and relational/non-relational data models.• Understanding of Microsoft Purview for data governance, cataloging, and lineage management.• Knowledge of real-time analytics, streaming architectures, and event-driven data processing.• Familiarity with MLOps and AI workload integration.• Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish, or Arabic).• Experience with agile development practices, project and portfolio management, andsequencing complex initiatives with dependencies.
