As a Database Administrator you will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

The main services managed by the team in which we have this opening are: local infrastructure of e-payment service in African countries and various VMWare based cloud infrastructures.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide second-line support for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Monitor database health, performance, and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Manage Oracle databases with Data Guard configurations for disaster recovery and high availability.
• Implement and maintain PostgreSQL streaming replication setups.
• Perform database backups, restores, and recovery procedures.
• Optimize database performance through tuning and indexing.
• Apply patches, upgrades, and security patches to database systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service requests.
• Collaborate with development teams for database schema design, query optimization, and deployment.
• Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
• Participate in rotating on call duty with team members

What you know and you will be working with:

• Proven experience as a Database Support or DBA, with expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Single Instance and Data Guard configurations.
• Experience with PostgreSQL streaming replication and failover setups.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS).
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
• Understanding of security best practices for database environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, PostgreSQL Certification) are a plus.
• Languages : English (French will be a big plus);
• Education: University degree.

The ideal candidate:

• Would have the technical skills mentioned above combined with very good communication and interpersonal skills, but also the willingness to develop and explore more.
• Would be able to understand and explain technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences and to share and collaborate with team mates
