ABOUT THE ROLE:

As EHS COUNTRY MANAGER, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all Environment, Health and Safety activities at country level across Lactalis Romania. Reporting directly to the Industrial Director, you will define, implement and continuously improve the country EHS strategy, ensuring legal compliance, alignment with Group standards and a strong safety culture across all sites, plants, logistics and support functions.

The EHS COUNTRY MANAGER is a strategic and operational leader responsible for building, deploying and monitoring the EHS framework for Lactalis Romania at country level. The role coordinates functionally the HSE managers and specialists from all relevant functions and sites, ensuring consistent standards, robust risk prevention, effective incident management, environmental performance and continuous improvement. The position requires strong collaboration with plant, logistics and functional leaders, as well as regular reporting to Group and local leadership.

From your EXPERTISE to ours. Key responsibilities for this position include:

Country EHS Strategy & Governance

• Define, deploy and monitor the EHS strategy for Lactalis Romania, in line with Group standards, local business priorities and legal requirements.
• Ensure a consistent EHS governance model across plants, logistics, offices and support functions.
• Coordinate country EHS objectives, action plans, KPIs and reporting, ensuring follow-up and continuous improvement.

Legal Compliance & Risk Prevention

• Ensure compliance with applicable Health, Safety and Environment legislation, internal procedures and Group requirements.
• Lead risk assessment processes, prevention programs, audits and corrective action plans across the country perimeter.
• Support sites in managing inspections, regulatory interactions, incidents, near misses and emergency preparedness.
• Participate in all factory audits, including ISO 45001 for health and safety and ISO 14001 for environmental management, ensuring preparation, follow-up and closure of action plans.

Functional Coordination & Site Support

• Functionally coordinate HSE managers and specialists from plants, logistics and other relevant functions, ensuring alignment, consistency and best practice sharing.
• Provide expert guidance to site management teams on EHS priorities, standards, investigations and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure EHS compliance in utility areas supporting production managers, including refrigeration units with ammonia systems and steam boilers.
• Build a strong country EHS community, promoting collaboration, accountability and proactive problem solving.

Safety Culture & Leadership

• Drive the development of a strong safety culture, engaging managers and employees in prevention, safe behaviors and continuous improvement.
• Lead communication, awareness and training initiatives related to occupational health, safety and environment.
• Act as a visible EHS leader, influencing stakeholders and supporting leaders in embedding EHS into daily operations.

Group Reporting & Performance Management

• Prepare and consolidate EHS performance reports for local leadership and Group, ensuring accuracy, transparency and timely follow-up.
• Monitor key indicators related to accidents, incidents, risk prevention, audits, environmental performance and action plan progress.
• Identify performance gaps, propose corrective actions and support implementation across the country perimeter.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate closely with Industrial, Supply Chain, Quality, HR, Legal and other functions to integrate EHS requirements into processes, projects and operations.
• Support investments, operational projects and change initiatives from an EHS perspective, ensuring risks are anticipated and managed.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risks, improve working conditions and strengthen environmental responsibility.

From your STORY to ours

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of EHS experience, preferably in industrial/FMCG environments
• Experience in multinational organizations
• Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, audits, and risk management
• Ability to translate technical requirements into practical, business solutions
• Experience coordinating teams across multiple sites
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills
• High resilience and ability to drive change
• Fluent English (French is a plus)
• Willingness to travel (~60% across Romania), with occasional international trips
