The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) - Corporates Department (CORP) - Central and South Eastern Europe Corporates Division (6-CSEE) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2026)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)
Please note that the traineeship programme aims to attract applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union.
Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered.
Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.
Objective of the traineeship
The ultimate goal is to have a more organized, agile and easy to use update system of origination to be exploited by the loan officers to reach new counterparts and develop new high-value added operations. An additional important goal is to provide support to the loan officers free up time to be dedicated to higher added value activities.
For the trainee this internship would give her/him the possibility to closely see the operational world of the EIB, provide hands-on experience, and give the possibility to exchange with the full division exposing her/him to a wide array of knowledge and experiences.
Responsibilities
You are expected to assist the division in the implementation of its operational tasks especially concerning the origination process and the financial analysis.
Under The Supervision Of The Head Of Division Or Senior Loan Officers, You Will Support The Division Lending Activity Such As
- Update the existing origination databases and/or help in building new ones used to monitor and approach potential new counterparts;
- Draft client briefings, reports, presentations and contribute to external communication efforts;
- Contribute to the update of the counterparts' financial data and in the preparation of financial analysis;
- Provide support to the division in implementing other day-to-day tasks, including for instance simple compliance checks.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or University degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related fields
- Good level of drafting skills, analytical (including knowledge of financial analysis) and synthesis skills are required;
- Proficiency in MS Office software, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, Microsoft 365
- Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of language the countries covered by the Division (Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania) will be an asset.
