We are seeking Technical Team Leads to oversee delivery and quality standards for our application-layer products. In this capacity, you will guide a compact team of 3-5 engineers who develop educational applications serving thousands of students.

This role blends hands-on execution with leadership: approximately 50% devoted to implementing sophisticated features yourself, and 50% focused on mentoring and empowering your team. You will define quality expectations, model best practices, conduct instructive code reviews, and support engineer development. Team results are your responsibility, not simply individual contributions.
Lean structure, substantial autonomy, minimal overhead. Technical leadership is your domain; personnel management is handled separately.
What You Will Be Doing

• Implementing sophisticated features that establish patterns for the team to follow
• Conducting PR reviews with thorough, instructional commentary
• Mentoring engineers via pair programming and constructive feedback
• Organizing technical initiatives and decomposing product requirements
• Defining quality benchmarks and verifying team adherence
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Handling personnel matters (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
• Contributing to platform or infrastructure layers
• Attending excessive meeting schedules
• Designing architecture in isolation from hands-on implementation
  

Basic Requirements
Engineering Team Lead key responsibilities

• Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience
• Minimum 2 years in a leadership capacity (conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers, defining team standards)
• Proven history of delivering SaaS products to production
• Practical experience incorporating AI tools into development processes
• Verified capability to elevate the skills and performance of fellow engineers

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
