Job Summary
The Expediting & Sales Support Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing teams delivering critical supply chain support services, including supplier expediting and sales support activities. The role ensures timely order fulfilment, proactive issue resolution, and high‑quality support to Sales and Commercial teams, while maintaining strong governance, compliance, and performance standards.
This position plays a key role in ensuring supply chain stability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence by acting as the primary escalation point for delivery risks, supplier delays, and order‑related issues.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop Expediting and Sales Support teams within the supply chain function.
- Set clear objectives aligned to service levels, KPIs, and business priorities.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Support onboarding, training, and capability building across both teams.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Participate in the hiring process by interviewing potential team members in line with SCC standard procedure and practices.
- Facilitate the onboarding period for new hires, ensuring a smooth integration by following the SCC Standard Onboarding Process.
- Allocate a mentor and ensure all new starters have a mentoring plan; provide feedback and track the progress.
Succession Planning
- Identify and support the development of potential leaders within the team.
- Develop succession plans to ensure continuity and growth within the department.
Operational Delivery & Service Management
- Own day‑to‑day delivery of expediting and sales support activities within agreed SLAs.
- Ensure proactive monitoring of supplier commitments, delivery dates and order status.
- Drive timely escalation and resolution of supplier delays, shortages and fulfilment risks.
- Oversee sales support activities including order queries, order changes and commercial coordination.
- Balance workload, capacity, and priorities across teams to meet business demand.
Stakeholder & Escalation Management
- Act as the primary escalation point for Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations stakeholders.
- Provide clear, timely communication on risks, delays, and recovery plans.
- Support service reviews, performance discussions and operational governance forums.
- Partner closely with Procurement, Logistics, Planning and Customer Operations teams.
Quality, Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, supply chain governance and audit requirements.
- Drive accuracy and data quality across ERP and supply chain systems.
- Review and approve exceptions, non‑standard scenarios and high‑risk cases.
- Support internal and external audits, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
- Identify recurring issues, systemic bottlenecks and process gaps across expediting and sales support.
- Lead standardization, simplification and automation initiatives.
- Ensure documentation of processes and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to supply chain transformation and GBS optimization initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proven people leadership experience in a supply chain or operations environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, order fulfilment and expediting.
- Experience working with Sales and Commercial stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to manage escalations and operate effectively under pressure.
- Experience working with KPIs, SLAs and operational performance frameworks.
- Confident communication with senior and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in supply chain operations, expediting, sales support or order management.
- Prior experience in a Team Leader/ Supervisor role is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a shared‑services or GBS environment is an advantage.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (Task Manager,Microsoft Dynamics).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
