About the Job

We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to support the development and continuous improvement of Functional Safety processes within automotive engineering projects. In this role, you will contribute to the definition and refinement of ISO 26262–aligned workflows, ensure consistency across disciplines, and collaborate with engineering teams to integrate safety activities into system and software development.

This position is suited for engineers with a strong understanding of ISO 26262 and a passion for process quality, methodical development, and system-level safety.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Maturation

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Functional Safety engineering processes.
• Ensure alignment of safety activities with ISO 26262 across the full V-cycle.
• Support the creation and maintenance of safety methods, templates, guidelines, and checklists.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with system, software, hardware, and testing teams to ensure consistent process execution and proper handoff of safety-related work products.
• Interface with program engineering teams to integrate new process updates into ongoing development activities.

Functional Safety Execution Support

• Participate in safety analyses, concept development, and requirements engineering as needed.
• Actively participating in verification reviews of the functional safety work products.
• Ensure traceability and compliance for safety-related work products.
• Assist teams in method adherence and in understanding the impact of process changes.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Support internal assessments and contribute to audit readiness.
• Collect lessons learned and propose improvements for enhanced efficiency and robustness.
• Maintain awareness of industry updates affecting ISO 26262 practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Practical experience with ISO 26262 and functional safety development activities.
• Understanding of system engineering workflows and V-model development.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and support process rollout.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• ISO 26262 Practitioner certification (or equivalent) required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in embedded systems development for automotive products.
• Exposure to safety analysis tools or methods (FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA, HARA).
• Experience in electrification projects, battery systems, or power electronics.
