PFP Advisory (www.pfpadvisory.com) is an executive search, recruitment, and assessments company providing search, selection, and evaluation services for the placement of top- and middle-level candidates.
We are looking for a General Manager to lead our client's Romanian manufacturing site. The position is based in Baia Mare, Maramures.
THE ROLE
The General Manager provides overall leadership for all manufacturing operations at the site, directing a multifunctional team and overseeing all plant activities. The role drives alignment between operational execution and the company’s strategic objectives, focusing on increasing productivity, optimizing costs, and enhancing operational agility. The General Manager ensures operational discipline, champions continuous improvement and employee engagement, and fosters a culture committed to long-term, sustainable performance.
Main responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Leading the company’s business operations and representing the company to external stakeholders and third parties;
- Preparing the annual business plan with the senior management, in accordance with the Group business strategy;
- Providing strategic proposals to improve business performance, productivity, and cost efficiency, for the medium- and long-term development of the company;
- Reporting periodically on business performance and proposing actions to improve results.
Operations & Production
- Ensuring consistently high production quality across all processes;
- Identifying and coordinating initiatives for productivity improvement and cost optimization;
- Overseeing commercial activities, including procurement, sales, and logistics;
- Ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and supporting the implementation of operational excellence initiatives;
- Safeguarding company assets, employees, and third parties, including insurance arrangements.
Financial Management
- Having full P&L ownership: monitoring financial performance, controlling budgets, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting;
- Submitting periodical business reports based on P&L statements, balance sheets, and operational KPIs;
- Achieving annual profitability goals; as needed, proposing corrective actions.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Leading, motivating, and energizing teams;
- Overseeing recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training to ensure optimal staffing;
- Designing and improving internal organizational structures to support growth and efficiency;
- Promoting continuous professional development, upskilling, and a strong performance culture.
Compliance, Safety & Environment
- Upholding occupational health and safety standards for employees and third parties;
- Ensuring compliance with environmental protection regulations;
- Promoting a culture of safety, responsibility, and ethical practice.
INTERNAL STRUCTURE
The future General Manager will report to a regional director, will manage the department heads (production, quality, maintenance, industrial engineering, logistics, IT, sales/admin, finance & HR), and will closely collaborate with other stakeholders, as needed.
THE CANDIDATE
Requirements
- Min. 7 years of technical / operational management experience in a manufacturing environment, with P&L responsibility;
- Background in mass production industry;
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, manage complex operations, and drive productivity improvements;
- Analytical and decision-making skills with a data-driven approach;
- Strong focus on optimizations, continuous improvement approach;
- University degree in a relevant field;
- Fluent business English;
- Availability to travel.

- Very good organizational, analytical, and planning skills, with a problem-solving and continuous-improvement approach;
