The Role


The Group Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all group-level financial operations, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in consolidating group financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes across multiple business units or subsidiaries.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Management & Reporting


  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with internal policies
  • Oversee group budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Maintain integrity and transparency in all financial reporting and disclosures


Group Consolidation & Control


  • Manage the consolidation of results from subsidiaries and international entities
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, eliminations, and reconciliations
  • Ensure consistent accounting policies and procedures across the business
  • Support subsidiary finance teams to maintain compliance and control standards


Compliance & Audit


  • Coordinate and manage annual group audit with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, tax regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Develop and implement internal control frameworks and risk management practices


Systems & Process Improvement


  • Lead continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
  • Implement ERP system enhancements and promote automation in finance operations
  • Ensure data accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial infrastructure


Leadership & Team Development


  • Manage and mentor the group finance team, promoting collaboration and accountability
  • Provide guidance and support to finance managers across subsidiaries
  • Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous learning


The Requirements


Essential:


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 3 years in a senior controller or group finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, group consolidation, and financial control frameworks.
  • Experience working in multi-entity, international, or complex corporate structures.
  • Proven experience in leading audits and managing external stakeholders.


Desirable:


  • Experience in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, technology, financial services].
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration and due diligence.
