Descriere:

(Mid–Senior Role – Schematic Creation, PCB Design Support & Electronics Development)

About the Job

We are looking for a Hardware Schematic & Design Engineer to develop and maintain schematics and electronic designs for automotive ECUs and embedded systems. In this role, you will work closely with PCB layout engineers, hardware architects, system engineers, and software teams to ensure accurate, robust, and manufacturable hardware designs.

This is a hands-on role focused on schematic design, component selection, electrical design, and cross-functional hardware development.

About Us

Piaxo is an engineering company that covers the full software development cycle of a product, from a sketch on a blank piece of paper to architecture, software development, testing until project management and maintenance. We work on innovative and complex projects, particularly in the automotive domain, where precision, adaptability, and creativity are key.

Our headquarters are located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and we are proud to also have a strong presence in Munich, Germany.

Key Responsibilities

Schematic Design & Electronic Development

  • Develop and maintain schematics for automotive ECUs and electronic modules.
  • Select components based on performance, availability, qualification, and cost factors.
  • Ensure proper design of power supply circuits, signal conditioning, digital interfaces, and IO circuits.
  • Apply derating, tolerancing, and design-for-manufacturing principles.

PCB Layout Collaboration

  • Work closely with PCB layout engineers to ensure correct placement, routing, EMC/EMI considerations, and manufacturability.
  • Provide guidance on critical nets, differential pairs, analog/digital separation, and thermal constraints.
  • Review PCB layouts before release.

Cross-Functional Engineering

  • Collaborate with hardware architects on design intent and architectural constraints.
  • Work with software teams to align HW/SW interfaces, diagnostics, and pin configuration needs.
  • Support mechanical teams with connector placement, packaging constraints, and thermal considerations.
  • Provide support to validation teams during bring-up and testing.

Prototyping & Debug Support

  • Support prototype builds, initial board bring-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) to validate electrical behavior.
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.

Documentation & Release

  • Create and maintain schematics, BOMs, design notes, release documentation, and ECO/change records.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with engineering practices and customer expectations.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience designing electronics and creating schematics for automotive or embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of analog/digital circuits, power stages, sensors, and communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Experience with schematic tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, KiCad, or similar.
  • Familiarity with PCB layout constraints and best practices.
  • Good debugging, measurement, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive ECUs, BMS, power electronics, or control units.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design rules and environmental requirements.
  • Exposure to ISO 26262, derating analysis, or safety-related design considerations.
  • Experience working with OEMs/Tier-1 suppliers.

Opportunities for You

  • Design electronics for next-generation automotive systems.
  • Work closely with architects, software engineers, mechanical teams, and validation experts.
  • Contribute to full hardware lifecycle from design to prototype to release.
  • Grow toward Hardware Architect or Hardware Lead roles.

Type of job

  • Full-time, contract of employment only.
  • On site - ISHO Offices, Timisoara
