QA Team Lead — 8vance

We're looking for a QA Team Lead to take ownership of software quality at 8vance, a ~50-person Dutch-German-Romanian AI company building the leading talent matching platform. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll manage a team of experienced testers while steering our shift from traditional test automation toward AI-assisted and agentic testing. Success in this role means keeping day-to-day delivery sharp, predictable, and fast, while building the AI-native QA capability that will define how we test going forward. You'll report into engineering leadership and work closely with development, product, and delivery teams in a fast-paced, non-corporate environment.

📍 Location: Venlo (NL) or Cluj (RO) — minimum 50% office time. Venlo-based candidates should expect regular travel to Cluj.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of testers, providing coaching, prioritization, and day-to-day people management
• Own the quality of releases, ensuring predictable and fast delivery cycles
• Define and execute test strategies across all test levels and types, from component to acceptance testing.
• Drive the adoption of AI-native test automation for E2E tests, API, and performance testing
• Identify and implement opportunities for AI to improve test generation, coverage analysis, and defect triage
• Build and maintain automation frameworks and tooling using Python
• Manage test planning and reporting in JIRA
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and delivery stakeholders to align quality goals with business priorities
• Make pragmatic decisions with incomplete information in a fast-moving delivery environment

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in functional/software testing, with demonstrated progression into leadership
• Proven people management and team leadership experience
• Solid understanding of SDLC processes and QA principles
• Hands-on experience with AI-native test automation for E2E, API, and performance testing
• Working knowledge of Python for automation and tooling
• Genuine enthusiasm for and experience applying AI to testing (test generation, coverage analysis, defect triage)
• Experience with JIRA for test planning and reporting
• Understanding of relational databases and object-oriented programming fundamentals
• Agile testing experience
• Experience testing web-based applications
• Track record of creating and executing test strategies, not just test cases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust across technical and non-technical audiences
