Job Description
Get to know the team
You will have the opportunity to work with a highly skilled team, with a very diverse structure, containing Java/Go/Python developers working side-by-side with database developers and site reliability engineers.
Team focus for this role is building the GrabMaps product, more specifically the mapmaking and map delivery component. We work in a distributed environment using Spark framework, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself also in the BigData world.
Get to know the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Java Developer with a keen interest in understanding how maps are constructed and the elements that comprise map data. This role provides a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the development process used in large-scale systems, equipping you with best practices and skills necessary for creating production-level applications that can handle big data. This is an on-site role, and you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager based in Cluj.
The Critical Tasks You will Perform

• Apply best practices to deliver high-quality code and contribute to the overall project quality.
• Work with map data and learn about scalable solutions tailored for map-making applications.
• Work with Databricks and Spark framework we use to build internal maps.
• Deploying and maintaining Java services using Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Use AI tools in your daily tasks to enhance productivity and innovation.
  

Qualifications
What Skills Will You Need

• Solid understanding of the Java programming language.
• Robust grasp of OOP concepts.
• Familiarity with backend API development or building data pipelines (ETL)
• Knowledge of unit testing and mocking frameworks.
• Self-motivated learner who stays informed about technological advancements and industry trends.
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey insights and results effectively through visualizations.
  

Nice To Haves

• Experience with SQL and Git version control is an advantage.
• Contact with BigData work is a significant plus
