As our project portfolio grows in scale and complexity — particularly in cooling systems and water treatment packages — we established our Major Projects Department, bringing together experienced engineers from across our core business lines. We are now looking to strengthen our Engineering Department with a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and technical execution of these projects.
Important scope note: Consultech operates as an Engineering & Procurement (EP) company — we are not an EPCC contractor. We do not self-perform construction or full commissioning execution. Our scope covers engineering, procurement, technical assistance during installation carried out by others, commissioning support, and after-sales service.
The Mechanical Engineer will support the Major Projects Department throughout the engineering and procurement lifecycle — ensuring technical accuracy of documentation, sound equipment selection, and effective coordination with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Documentation
Prepare and issue technical documents: datasheets, mechanical specifications, technical descriptions, layout and P&ID review comments, and basic/detailed design deliverables (DDE-type documentation).
Support development of technical proposals, translating process parameters (load, temperature, pressure, flow) into equipment and system configurations.
Procurement Support
Review and check Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for mechanical equipment and piping components (pumps, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, valves, piping materials, skid-mounted systems).
Prepare and verify Material Requisitions (MRs), ensuring technical compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
Perform technical bid evaluations and comparisons of supplier offers.
Subcontractor & Supplier Document Control
Verify technical documentation submitted by subcontractors and equipment suppliers (fabrication drawings, calculation reports, test certificates, ITPs, manuals) for compliance with project requirements.
Track document review cycles and maintain technical query logs with suppliers and subcontractors.
Piping & Rotating Equipment
Provide mechanical engineering input on piping systems (routing, material selection, sizing) and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, decanters/centrifuges, blowers) within project scope.
Support technical reviews related to equipment integration into skids, containers, and cooling/water treatment systems.
Project & Site Support
Participate in project design reviews, coordination meetings, and technical clarification sessions with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other process/technical safety studies as the mechanical engineering representative.
Provide technical assistance during installation activities carried out by others, and support commissioning and after-sales/service activities as needed.
Cross-functional Coordination
Work closely with process, water treatment, electrical/automation engineers, and the Project Manager to ensure consistency across disciplines.
Support technical audits and site visits where mechanical input is required.

Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field).
Experience:
4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering within industrial, energy, process, or water/wastewater treatment sectors.
Practical exposure to piping design/review and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, centrifuges, or similar) is required.
Experience working on EP or EPC-type industrial projects is a strong advantage.
Prior participation in HAZOP, LOPA, or similar risk/safety assessment studies is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of relevant mechanical and piping standards (e.g., ASME, API, EN/ISO as applicable).
Familiarity with datasheet preparation, technical specification writing, and MR/RFQ processes.
Ability to read and review P&IDs, GA drawings, and isometrics.
Proficiency with relevant engineering/CAD tools (AutoCAD and/or equivalent); knowledge of piping design software is a plus.
Good command of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Other Requirements:
Fluent in Romanian and English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus given the company's regional footprint (Moldova, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Middle East, North Africa).
Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, supplier meetings, and technical assistance during installation/commissioning.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Good communication skills for interfacing with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
