Blue Projects — Mechanical Project Engineer (Project Site (70–100 km from Bucharest))
Blue Projects' Project Delivery & Engineering team is looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team in Project Site (70–100 km from Bucharest).
About Blue Projects
Blue Projects is a full service Design, Engineering, Project Management and Construction Management company with international experience delivering complex greenfield and brownfield developments for global blue chip clients across retail, commercial and industrial sectors. We operate with a flexible, client‑focused approach, applying lean design and lean construction methodologies to ensure seamless cross‑discipline interface management and consistent quality.

Deliver here. Grow here.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the installation, integration, and commissioning of industrial production lines and associated utilities from initiation through handover. The role requires strong planning, vendor and contractor coordination, on‑site supervision, risk and quality control, and cost oversight for mechanical scopes (equipment, piping, HVAC/process air, fire protection where applicable). Daily commute or relocation to the project site (70–100 km from Bucharest) is required.
Job Description

  • Own the mechanical scope of production line installations from pre‑installation readiness to SAT/FAT, start‑up and ramp‑up.
  • Coordinate OEMs, system integrators and installation contractors to achieve safe, high‑quality mechanical installation and utility tie‑ins per design and layout.
  • Drive interface management between equipment, building services (MEP), and process utilities to ensure fit, access, maintainability, and performance.
  • Plan activities and schedules: lift plans, shutdown windows, line relocations, and phased commissioning; maintain look‑ahead programs and deliverable tracking.
  • Manage changes (layout updates, utility loads, access constraints) proactively to minimize downtime and protect critical milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, technical standards, local codes, and client requirements; review and approve shop drawings and method statements.
  • Lead safety by design and execution, including permits to work, LOTO, lifting operations, and contractor toolbox talks; enforce mechanical safety standards.
  • Oversee contractual performance of mechanical vendors/contractors and verify completion against BoQ, SoW and technical appendices.
  • Monitor daily progress on site; validate measurements, quantities, and as‑built documentation; adjust plans to maintain schedule.
  • Prepare clear internal/external reports (progress, risks, KPIs) and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks (late deliveries, alignment issues, utility capacity, clean‑build protocols) to secure a successful start‑up.
  • Implement a structured QA/QC program: ITPs, inspection points, torque/leveling/alignment checks, pressure tests, and performance acceptance criteria.
  • Control costs within the mechanical scope; support value engineering without compromising safety or performance.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial projects in Romania (FMCG, food & bev, pharma, logistics, or manufacturing).
  • Proven track record with production line installations (OEM coordination, rigging/lifting, commissioning, SAT/FAT).
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and strong MS Office skills.
  • Experience with 2D/3D tools (AutoCAD; exposure to Revit/Inventor/SolidWorks is a plus).
  • Minimum B1 level of English, spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated integrity, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Availability and willingness to travel and relocate near project sites.
