MSF pharmacists provide essential expertise in our projects. From training national staff how to store and manage lifesaving medications through to ensuring enough medications are flown in to tackle sudden malaria outbreaks, MSF pharmacists ensure that essential medicines are there when they are needed, well managed, transported and stored appropriately (temperatures, humidity and light exposure).





Your job


As an MSF pharmacist, your main responsibility will be the functioning of the central project pharmacy and its peripheral units.








This might include:

• 
  
  
• Supervision of proper storage and inventory management of pharmaceuticals and medical devices
  
  
• Coordination of ordering- and supply-lines between the project pharmacy and the hospital, as well as the distribution of medicine to hospitals and clinics
  
  
• Close collaboration with the logistical and medical teams
  
  
• Analysing consumption figures and medical data, to guarantee a good control and up to date data of stock levels and avoid expiries, overstocks, and stock outs
  
  
• Implementation of new standards and protocols to be followed by all staff to ensure the quality of the service provided, including pharmaco vigilance in case of need
  
  
• Support of the medical coordination team to ensure the conformity of the medical supply chain in accordance with national legislation
  
  
• Advise on local purchase, drug destruction and medical donations
  
  
• In collaboration with the medical teams: preparation of international orders

• Creation of a respectful and supportive work environment, continuous training and supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and nurses, offering support with daily management of drugs and medical equipment
