Our client is an international manufacturing company operating in a highly technical and innovation-driven environment. As part of the continued development of its Romanian operations, we are looking for an experienced Plant Controller to take ownership of the financial and controlling activities of the manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on role with strong exposure to manufacturing finance, cost accounting, FP&A, financial reporting and operational performance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams to drive financial visibility, cost efficiency and informed business decision-making.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in controlling, financial management or plant finance, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong experience in manufacturing controlling and cost accounting.
• Good understanding of inventory management, production costs and manufacturing variances.
• Solid knowledge of Romanian accounting legislation and IFRS.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting.
• Previous experience working with an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor or a similar platform.
• Experience in ERP implementation or major ERP/process improvement projects is highly valued.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering and other non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in Romanian and English.
• Hands-on, structured and solution-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a plant finance / manufacturing controller position.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, product costing and inventory accounting.
• Experience with CAPEX controlling and investment analysis.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives.
• Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with international finance teams and group reporting structures.
• Professional accounting or controlling certification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CMA) would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities and the month-end closing process for the manufacturing facility.
• Lead the plant's FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Monitor and report on plant performance, including production costs, inventory turnover and CAPEX.
• Maintain and improve cost accounting processes and monitor manufacturing variances.
• Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Romanian financial regulations, internal controls and corporate policies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Support external audits and ensure timely statutory and tax reporting.
• Manage and mentor junior finance team members.
