The successful candidate will be responsible for the migration and optimization of our application database schemas. This role is essential in ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database environment as we transition from on-premises Oracle databases to a cloud-based PostgreSQL infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with the database, a deep understanding of cloud database technologies, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with our DevOps and application development teams.What You’ll Be DoingCloud Migration: take a significant part of the planned migration of our database environment from Oracle to Cloud SQL for PostgreSQLDevelop and implement migration strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtimeEmploy a range of techniques to analyze problems and evaluate multiple solutions against engineering, business & strategic criteriaCollaborate to achieve consensus on topics and issues and contribute to communitiesIdentify and resolve barriers to business deliveries implementing solutions which iteratively deliver valueDesign solutions using common design patterns with a range of design tools & techniquesConduct peer reviews to ensure designs are fit for purpose, extensible & re-usableDeliver end-to-end first-class engineering solutions across a range of technology platformsImprove delivery standards, working practices, tools & solutions and driving adoption of automation toolsEnsure stable and reliable production environments and high-quality service delivery to customersInvestigate production incidents & lead remediation, analyze services & componentsDesign & build solutions which are secure & controlledInvestigate & report on issues and potential risk events within designs and solutionsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related fieldAt least 5 years of data engineering experience in a similar role Excellent technical skills in PostgreSQLStrong understanding of relational databasesAbility to design and develop application/components including packages, store procedures, functions, triggersExperience in working with Oracle SQL and PL/SQLProficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell scriptingProficiency in data modelling and database designOpen to learn Google Cloud technologiesData analysis general skillsAnalytical thinker experienced in a range of problem-solving techniques & approachesTeam player who shares and collaborates, a keen listener and quick learnerCommunicates clearly and influences using coherent, fact and benefit-based proposalsEnables experimentation and fast learning approaches to creating business solutionsUnderstands key elements of security, risk & controlNice To HaveExperience in banking projectsExperience with Agile development environment Show more Show less
