Location: Bucharest, Romania (or Italy with regular travel to Romania)

About the Opportunity

An international energy consultancy is expanding its renewable energy delivery team in Romania and is looking for a Project Manager to support the construction and delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

The business is in a major growth phase, with 5 projects currently under construction and a further 3 entering the EPC phase. This role will take ownership of the installation and execution of three large-scale BESS projects near Bucharest, working across engineering, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery through to Commercial Operation Date (COD).

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of utility-scale BESS projects from construction through to commissioning and COD.
• Manage EPC contractors, suppliers, and technical stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Coordinate project schedules, budgets, quality, HSE, and risk management activities.
• Review and challenge engineering designs, installation methodologies, and technical documentation.
• Support grid connection, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Act as the main point of contact between internal teams, contractors, and external partners.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in line with contractual requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical project management within renewable energy or infrastructure.
• Strong experience delivering utility-scale energy projects from Ready-to-Build (RtB) through to COD.
• Ideally previous experience with BESS projects, including construction, commissioning, or integration activities.
• Strong understanding of EPC delivery models and contractor management.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across complex technical projects.
• Fluent English required; Romanian is highly desirable. Italian would be advantageous.
