Freelance Project Manager (On-Site – Romania)

Industrial / Heavy Industry Projects (12–18 months)

We are supporting a leading international industrial group specializing in mineral processing and limestone-based solutions used across steelmaking, construction, water treatment, and soil stabilization.

As part of its ongoing investment program across EMEA and Asia, the company is launching several strategic projects in Romania and is looking for an experienced Project Manager (Site-Based) to oversee execution on the ground.

🎯 Your Role

You will play a key role in the execution and delivery of industrial projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to scope.

This is a hands-on, site-oriented role focused on execution rather than design.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading on-site project execution across technical, budget, and planning aspects
• Coordinating contractors, suppliers, and external engineering partners
• Ensuring strict adherence to HSE standards (safety is a top priority)
• Managing work permits, logistics, and site organization
• Monitoring budget, scope, timelines, and risks
• Supervising installation and commissioning of industrial equipment and processes

🏗️ Projects Scope

You will manage two parallel projects:

• €5M Grinding Plant Project
• Installation of a new grinding unit (rollermills)
• Management of airflow systems (aspiration/inspiration) to achieve product fineness
• Objective: develop on-site production capacity
• €9M Kiln Conversion Project
• Conversion of gas-fired kilns to biomass systems
• Includes biomass unloading, silo storage, and dosing systems

👤 Profile

We are looking for a versatile and pragmatic Project Manager with strong field presence:

• Background in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience managing industrial or construction projects on-site
• Strong execution mindset (not design-focused)
• Ability to work across multiple disciplines (technical, logistics, safety, coordination)
• Experience on mid-sized projects (€3M–€10M) is highly valued
• Comfortable working in an international environment

✅ Languages:

• Romanian + good English OR
• Fluent English + working knowledge of Romanian

✅ Location requirement:

• Must be based locally in Romania
