Remote - Freelancer / Part-time 

We’re looking for a Python engineer with a solid understanding of LLMs and localization to help develop and maintain our internal AI-powered translation tool in the long term. You’ll work closely with project managers and localization engineers to bring automation and efficiency to real-world localization workflows.

🕒 Fully remote within CET/GMT/EEST 

We’re only considering applicants within the listed time zones. If you’re outside these zones (e.g., GMT+4, GMT+5, PST, EST, IST, etc.), we won’t be able to move forward with your application.

📆 Approx. 40-60 hours/month *

*After the initial 4–6 week trial period, we’d be happy to increase your hours, as we’re seeking a stable, long-term collaboration. We estimate the collaboration could potentially increase up to 80 hours (or more) after the trial period. 

You’ll be joining a fast-moving team of localization specialists working on projects for some of the world’s leading action and outdoor sports brands. You will work closely with our current localization and operations teams, first shadowing and supporting our Python engineer during handover and then taking over responsibilities and whole projects. You will gradually become our go-to person for AI requests related to clients’ or TAST-internal projects. 

Main responsibilities

• Support, develop and maintain our AI-based translation tool using Python as the primary programming language

• Investigate and implement ways to improve the quality and consistency of the AI output

• Run and monitor our AI tool on ongoing localization projects

• Help PMs prepare and structure localization projects to work seamlessly with the tool

• Analyze feedback from linguists and Project Managers, translating their insights into measurable improvements to the AI tool’s output quality.

• Act as a hybrid product owner/developer in a lean setup, balancing technical implementation with strategic input on AI tool development

What we are looking for

• Strong Python skills with experience working with LLMs 

• Solid grasp of LLMs — how they work, when to use them and how to craft effective prompts

• Experience developing or contributing to tools in the localization space (or deep familiarity with CAT/TMS tools - preferably Phrase TMS)

• Understanding of localization concepts: translation memory, alignment, glossaries, style guides, etc.

• Proven ability to work independently and own projects end-to-end

⚠️IMPORTANT: Because of the specific nature of our projects, only candidates who meet all the listed requirements will be considered.

Nice to have

• Familiar with Phrase TMS and Phrase API

• Tracked record of open-source projects you created/contributed to
