Test Automation Engineer

What We Do:

The Environments team is responsible for setting up and maintaining platforms used for development and testing throughout Global Fabric. Our main tasks include:

• Creating and managing virtual machines using on-premises cloud.
• Running cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Overseeing and monitoring both our infrastructure and the Global Fabric applications that sit on top of it.
• Guaranteeing consistent connectivity across different environments.
• Deploying Global Fabric applications both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Providing any extra platform features our internal developers and testers need.

Role Overview:

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise to Global Fabric and using your skills to build, manage and test that environments stay consistent and healthy.

• Test Script creation: Using your knowledge and experience to write tests using an agreed framework (Python Behave, Robot) to build test suites that prove the integrity and stability of our environments.
• Troubleshooting and Faulting: Using expertise and understanding of python, automate test sand associated skills to create runbooks to quickly fault and identify where issues lay.
• Collaboration: Working closely with development and operations teams to align tests to Non-production and Production scenarios.
• Defect Management: Identify, analyze, document and track defects within the environment, as a result of test failures.
• CI/CD Integration: Integration automated tests into CI pipelines for automated testing and reporting.
• Tool & Process Improvement: Research and evaluate new tools, and continuously improve test related processes.

The skills you’ll need to succeed:

• Proficiency in automation and scripting with Python, including the ability to build tooling and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies, ideally with hands-on experience using Kubernetes.
• Solid awareness of cybersecurity principles, including risk assessment, continuous auditing, and compliance validation. • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Foundational knowledge of networking concepts and how networks function.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Python Behave and Robot Framework.
• Experience using GitLab CI and building pipelines to execute automated tests.
• Experience testing REST-based APIs.
• Experience writing tests that cover system integration, component functionality, and network-state validation.
