💡 About the Role

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with Java to ensure end‑to‑end quality across highly available, high‑throughput Payments platforms serving regulated European markets.

This role is ideal for a quality‑driven professional with strong automation, API, and event‑driven testing experience, and proven exposure to payments processing and European regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Business, and DevOps/SRE teams to embed quality throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.

🔧 What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of payment systems
• Build and enhance automation frameworks for APIs, microservices, and event‑driven architectures
• Perform functional, integration, and non‑functional testing for complex, high‑performance financial applications
• Test messaging and event‑driven systems built using Kafka
• Work closely with Product Owners and Business teams to understand requirements and validate functionality
• Collaborate with development teams to meet Sprint goals in Agile environments
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, release activities, and production readiness
• Triage defects, manage defect backlog, and provide actionable insights to engineering teams
• Support incident management and standby activities when required
• Maintain test artefacts, automation, and reporting in Azure DevOps

✅ Key Skills & Experience

• 5–8 years of experience as a QA Engineer, preferably in the Financial Services or Payments domain
• Strong hands‑on experience in functional and automation testing
• Experience using Gatling and Karate for API, mock, and UI testing
• Good experience testing messaging and event‑driven systems (Kafka)
• Solid understanding of REST, JSON, XML, SOAP
• Hands‑on experience with Postman for API testing
• Experience with Gherkin syntax for high‑performance test scripting
• Exposure to TDD / BDD / ATDD methodologies
• Experience maintaining test cases and automation using Azure DevOps
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and DevOps delivery models

💳 Payments Domain Knowledge (Strong Advantage)

• Understanding of the payments ecosystem, including payment types, methods, and regulatory requirements
• Experience with:
• Payment processing systems and gateways
• ISO 20022 standards
• SEPA CT, SEPA DD, Instant Payments, INT CT, TIP CT
• Messaging formats such as MX, XML, PAIN, JSON
• European regulations like PSD2 and SEPA
