Role: QA Engineer (Automation / Risk)

Location: Bucharest (1 day per week onsite)

Duration: Initial 12-month contract (likely to extend)

Overview

We’re looking for a QA Engineer with strong automation experience to join a high-performing technology team within a risk-focused environment. This role will play a key part in ensuring the quality and stability of system releases, working closely with multiple stakeholders across technology, risk, and business teams.

This is a hands-on position combining test execution, automation, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong emphasis on ensuring accuracy and reliability across production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a leading role in testing system release candidates, ensuring changes to production systems are stable and accurate
• Design, develop, and execute test cases across Functional, SIT, Integration, UAT, and Regression testing phases
• Build and enhance automated test coverage using modern frameworks and tools
• Investigate and clearly articulate differences between expected and actual system behaviour
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Application Support, Risk, and wider technology teams
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing clear updates on testing progress, risks, and issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tooling, and automation frameworks
• Support agile delivery, working within Scrum teams and utilising tools such as Jira and Zephyr

Skills & Experience

Business / Functional

• Experience or understanding of financial risk (market and/or credit risk) – beneficial but not essential
• Strong experience working in Agile environments (Scrum)
• Proven ability to work across multiple teams and manage stakeholder expectations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid experience across full testing lifecycle (Functional, SIT, UAT, Integration, Regression)

Technical

• Strong experience with test automation frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber, Java, Python)
• Experience with API testing using Postman or REST tools
• Experience with databases (preferably Oracle) with strong querying skills
• Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS or Snowflake
• Familiarity with tools such as GitLab and Ansible
• Experience working in Unix/Linux environments (or via PuTTY)
