Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Engineer to join our dynamic agile team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of complex systems by contributing to both manual and automated testing strategies.

This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including development, business analysts, operations and risk, to deliver high-quality solutions across a range of business-critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent and champion quality engineering within agile teams
• Design and execute functional and non-functional test scenarios
• Develop, maintain, and enhance test automation frameworks (Java-based)
• Execute manual and automated tests, analyse results, and manage defects
• Prepare and manage test data to support testing activities
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve issues effectively
• Monitor test environments and highlight risks or constraints
• Provide clear and concise reporting on progress, risks, and issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and frameworks
• Support external and integration testing phases where required

Key Skills and Attributes

• Strong experience in quality engineering (manual and automation testing)
• Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
• Proficiency in Java, JUnit, SQL, and API testing (REST tools)
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Git, Postman (or similar)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Proactive approach to identifying risks and driving improvements

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

• Experience within financial services or capital markets environments
• Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g. Cucumber, front-end testing frameworks)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS or similar)
• Knowledge of data formats and messaging protocols (e.g. XML)
• Understanding of risk, regulatory, or trading systems
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (desirable)
• Relevant testing certifications (e.g. ISTQB) are advantageous
