Role: Manual QA Engineer

Location: Bucharest (1 day per week onsite)

Duration: Initial 12-month contract (likely to extend to 18 months)

Rate: Open / Market Rate

Overview:

We’re looking for a hands-on Manual QA Engineer to support the decommissioning of a legacy risk database as the organisation transitions to Snowflake. This is not a traditional QA role – you’ll work directly with multiple teams across the organisation, querying data, reviewing system outputs, and ensuring a clean, accurate, and well-documented platform shutdown.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and execute manual QA processes for the decommissioning of a risk database.
• Validate data integrity, migration accuracy, and system dependencies before and during shutdown using Unix/Linux environments.
• Query databases and review outputs to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or edge cases.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, data teams, and project managers in a highly cross-functional environment.
• Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear updates and guidance throughout the decommissioning process.
• Produce clear test plans, results, and sign-off documentation for compliance and audit purposes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a QA Engineer
• Hands-on experience with Unix command line and querying databases
• Experience decommissioning or sunsetting complex data platforms or systems
• Strong ability to review and validate data, identifying discrepancies and edge cases
• Comfortable working across multiple technical teams and managing stakeholder expectations
• Exposure to Snowflake or similar modern data platforms (bonus)
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Looking for an automation specialist with experience in API testing (e.g. Postman)
• Good test automation framework experience
• Strong communication skills

Contract Details:

• 12-month initial term with likely 6-month extension.
• 1 day per week onsite in Bucharest; otherwise remote.
• Competitive daily rate – open depending on experience
