The Role

QA Lead – Microservices, Integration & Workflow Orchestration

We are looking for an experienced QA Lead to define, drive, and continuously improve the quality strategy across a complex backend-oriented, multi-squad technology programme.

In this role, you will lead QA governance, coordinate quality activities across multiple delivery teams, and ensure consistent testing standards, traceability, and visibility of quality risks throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, DevOps engineers, and external stakeholders to embed quality into every stage of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and maintain the overall QA strategy, standards, governance model, and best practices across the programme.
• Coordinate QA activities across multiple squads, ensuring consistency in testing execution, reporting, defect management, and quality evidence.
• Oversee test coverage across API testing, integration testing, contract testing, regression testing, negative testing, business workflows, and risk-based validation.
• Ensure high-quality validation of authentication, authorization, roles and permissions, tenant isolation, and service-to-service interactions.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, DevOps teams, and external stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout delivery.
• Drive quality reporting, release readiness assessments, traceability, audit preparation, and quality governance activities.
• Coordinate collaboration with Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) teams, supporting evidence preparation, defect clarification, and follow-up actions.
• Ensure complete traceability between business requirements, test coverage, defects, evidence, and delivery outcomes.
• Review and validate AI-assisted testing approaches and generated test assets to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Promote QA best practices, continuous improvement, and a quality-first mindset across all delivery teams.

We are looking for a hands-on QA Lead who combines strong leadership with technical understanding of backend systems and integration testing.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Proven leadership experience coordinating QA across multiple delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of backend architectures, APIs, integrations, and workflow orchestration.
• Excellent planning, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and a structured approach to quality governance.
• Confidence working with cross-functional technical teams in complex delivery environments.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• A proactive, pragmatic, and delivery-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.

🔐 Mandatory Requirements

• Citizenship of a NATO member country.
• Ability to successfully complete the required security clearance process.
• Professional or advanced English level, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience leading QA activities within complex software delivery programmes.
• Previous experience coordinating QA across multiple squads or cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in backend-focused environments involving APIs, integrations, workflows, or data validation.
• Strong understanding of API validation strategies and integration testing approaches.
• Experience defining QA strategies, quality gates, defect triage processes, reporting, and release readiness activities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Developers, Architects, DevOps engineers, Product teams, and Business Analysts.
• Strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and quality-driven mindset.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience working with distributed systems, microservices, or integration-heavy architectures.
• Experience in regulated, security-sensitive, or highly governed environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD quality controls and continuous testing practices.
• Experience with structured evidence management, traceability frameworks, and audit preparation.
• Previous collaboration with external validation, audit, compliance, or IV&V teams.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent QA certification.
