About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Retail Operations Specialist to join our

growing retail team. In this role, you will be the operational backbone of our key retail account

relationships—managing shipments, ensuring compliance with retailer requirements, and keeping

purchase orders and communications running smoothly. You will work closely with internal teams

and directly with major retail partners including Walmart, Menards, and Dollar General.

Primary Responsibilities

• Shipment Coordination — Manage and track outbound shipments to key retail accounts

(Walmart, Menards, Dollar General), ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with each

retailer’s routing and scheduling requirements.

• Routing Guide Compliance — Read, interpret, and apply retailer-specific routing guides to

ensure all shipments are booked and executed according to carrier, packaging, and delivery

window requirements.

• Purchase Order Management — Enter, maintain, and monitor purchase orders in the

system, ensuring accuracy in quantities, ship dates, and item details while proactively

resolving discrepancies.

• Retailer Communication — Serve as a primary point of contact for retail account inquiries,

responding promptly and professionally to emails from buyers and logistics teams at Walmart,

Menards, Dollar General, and other accounts.

• Label & Compliance Requirements — Understand and apply retailer-specific labeling

standards (GS1, UCC-128, inner/outer carton labels) to ensure all products are properly

labeled before shipment to avoid chargebacks.

• Chargeback & Deduction Management — Identify, dispute, and track retailer chargebacks

related to shipping, labeling, or compliance errors, working cross-functionally to minimize

financial impact.

• Order Status Reporting — Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on order

fulfillment status, potential delays, and any supply or logistics issues impacting retail

accounts.

• Cross-functional Coordination — Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and sales teams to

align on inventory availability, ship windows, and special retailer programs or promotional

orders.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in retail operations, logistics, or supply chain support, preferably in a

CPG or wholesale environment.

• Familiarity with major retailer portals and systems (Walmart Retail Link, Menards vendor

portal, Dollar General supplier hub, or similar).

• Experience reading and applying retailer routing guides and compliance manuals.

• Proficiency entering and managing purchase orders in an ERP or order management system

(e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, or similar).

• Strong understanding of retail labeling requirements, including UCC-128/GS1 barcode

standards and carton/pallet marking compliance.

• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to respond to retailer inquiries in a clear,

professional, and timely manner.

• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines

simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for order tracking, reporting, and

reconciliation.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with EDI transactions, particularly 850 (Purchase Orders), 856 (ASNs), and 810

(Invoices) in a retail vendor context.

• Familiarity with freight and carrier management, including LTL/FTL booking and working with

3PLs.

• Prior experience disputing and managing retail chargebacks or deductions.

• Knowledge of warehouse or fulfillment operations, including pick/pack processes and pallet

building standards.

• Experience working with multiple retail accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume

environment.
