Altex Romania is looking for a Safety Director to lead the company-wide Safety, Health & Fire Prevention strategy across all Retail, Brico Depot and Supply Chain operations.

This role will oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of SSM, PSI and Emergency Management systems, ensuring compliance, prevention, operational readiness and a strong safety culture across the entire organization.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced safety leader with a strong technical background, a proactive mindset and the ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the company.

We believe this requires at least the following:

· 10+ years of experience in SSM / PSI / Emergency Management

· Minimum 5 years in a managerial role within Safety / Facilities / Retail / Logistics

· Engineering degree

· Certification according to legal requirements

· Safety-related certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, SSM Evaluator, Master SSM) are a strong advantage

· Strong knowledge of SSM, PSI, SU legislation and ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301)

· Experience in risk assessment, audits, investigations and incident analysis

· Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills

· Ability to work in dynamic environments, manage crises and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams

· Strategic thinking, problem-solving and high attention to detail

Main Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement the organizational SSM / PSI / Emergency Management strategy across all Altex group locations

· Oversee risk assessments, preventive actions, internal controls and authorization-to-work processes

· Coordinate the internal SIPP and SPSU teams, including intervention, evacuation and first-aid groups

· Set annual safety objectives and ensure efficient execution across Retail, Brico Depot and Logistics operations

· Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and international standards

· Lead accident & incident investigations, conduct root-cause analysis and ensure corrective measures are applied

· Organize and supervise safety trainings, drills and emergency simulations (fire, earthquake, chemical events, blackout, IT outage, etc.)

· Manage relationships with authorities (ITM, ISU), private fire services and external SSM/PSI suppliers

· Ensure business continuity readiness (BCP) and crisis response capability

· Monitor safety performance indicators and propose continuous improvement actions

· Supervise the implementation of PSI measures according to norms and legal requirements

· Coordinate RSVTI activities and specific technical authorizations (fochiști, cadre tehnice PSI, lucrători desemnați SSM etc.)

· Prepare department budgets and manage resources effectively

· Provide regular reports to top management and recommend risk mitigation strategies

· Promote and strengthen a proactive safety culture throughout the organization
