Role Description

Gherdan & Asociații SCA is seeking both Senior and Junior Lawyers to join its sports law practice in a full-time, on-site role based in Cluj-Napoca. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts, transfer agreements, sponsorship and endorsement deals, and internal regulations. The roles involve preparing case files, legal opinions, and procedural documents for national and international sports bodies and arbitral tribunals. Team members will conduct legal research on sports regulations, disciplinary and governance matters, and support client representation in hearings and negotiations. Senior Lawyers will additionally guide case strategy, supervise junior colleagues, and manage direct client relationships, while Junior Lawyers will focus on case preparation, documentation, and ongoing learning within the practice.

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited university; admission to the Bar in Romania or clear eligibility to practice law.
• Proven experience or strong interest in sports law, commercial law, or dispute resolution; prior work with federations, clubs, players, or agents is an advantage.
• Solid skills in legal research, legal writing, and contract drafting in English and Romanian.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and case management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills, with a professional and respectful approach to all stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team, handle deadlines, and manage multiple matters simultaneously.
• For Senior Lawyers: several years of post-qualification experience, including responsibility for complex cases, hearings, or arbitrations, and mentoring of junior colleagues.
• For Junior Lawyers: internship, trainee, or entry-level experience in litigation, arbitration, or commercial/sports law is preferred.
• Very good command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of other foreign languages is an asset.
• High ethical standards, discretion, and genuine interest in the sports industry and international sports governance.
