Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in complex enterprise environments, with a strong emphasis on technical problem-solving and scalable solution delivery.
• 5+ years of hands-on Appian development experience, including active Appian certification (Appian Certified Senior Developer or Lead Developer certification) and demonstrated expertise in building robust process applications.
• Strong expertise in Appian SAIL interface design, Process modeling (BPMN), Appian Records and Data Fabric.
• Experience with integration technologies (REST APIs, web services).
• Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL).
• Familiarity with Appian plug-ins and component development.
• Advanced skills in designing and optimizing integrations, data models, and process automation—leveraging Appian's integration objects and APIs, as well as direct experience developing and consuming RESTful services.
• Proficiency in SQL for data modeling, query optimization, and integration with enterprise databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB/MySQL, or PostgreSQL), including the development of complex joins, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Strong JavaScript skills for implementing custom UI components, enhancing Appian SAIL interfaces, and integrating with third-party front-end frameworks as needed.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with business teams to analyze requirements, resolve issues, and deliver high-impact solutions in regulated, mission-critical environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and implement workarounds with minimal user impact by leveraging application logs, debugging tools, and monitoring solutions.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline setup, automated testing, and release management for Appian and related technologies.
• Must have integration experience with one or more of the following: Docusign, Apryse Web Viewer, Appian RPA, SharePoint API, Microsoft Graph, Auth0; demonstrated ability to build secure, scalable, and reusable connectors for these platforms.
• Proven experience building and maintaining client-facing solutions in regulated industries, ensuring compliance with industry standards and data protection requirements.
• Demonstrate attention to detail; include the word "orchestra" somewhere in your cover letter or email.
• Strong initiative and ownership—capable of identifying technical and business needs, proposing innovative solutions, and independently driving results from conception to deployment

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and observability tools for monitoring application health and performance.
• Experience in global delivery models and cross-border collaboration, including technical leadership of distributed teams.
• Appian Certified Senior Developer or Lead Developer certification.
• Exposure to robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent document processing.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies (JavaScript, React) for custom components.
• Experience with enterprise architecture patterns and microservices.
• Advanced understanding of regulatory frameworks (such as SEC, FINRA, GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, ISO 27001) and their application to software development and operational processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).

Solution Architecture & Development

• Design and development of Appian applications (interfaces, process models, records, integrations) following best practices.
• Architect complex workflows and integrations with enterprise systems (APIs, databases, third-party platforms).
• Deliver client-facing solutions with intuitive UIs, seamless workflows, accessibility, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate closely with the Appian Architect to develop scalable solutions, ensuring that application designs align with overall system architecture and future growth needs.
• Propose architectural improvements and provide guidance to other developers, fostering knowledge sharing and supporting the team in implementing best practices across all Appian projects.

Support, Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

• Provide expert-level support for production systems, including rapid diagnosis and resolution of critical issues.
• Proactively monitor systems, identify potential problems, and implement solutions before they impact users.
• Maintain operational documentation and runbooks for advanced integration scenarios.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying and addressing recurring issues, and by suggesting and implementing enhancements.

Client Service & Business Collaboration

• Work closely with business teams to understand requirements, root-cause issues, and develop effective workarounds that minimize user disruption.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Engineering Excellence

• Establish/Improve CI/CD pipelines and automation for build, test, and deployment.
• Ensure test automation coverage across unit, integration, and UI layers.
• Adherent to security and compliance standards, including role-based access and data protection.
